Directly adjacent to the GDI is a retreat house with three rooms for
individuals on retreat. Here, practitioners can meditate in absolute
seclusion and silence for longer or shorter periods of time, and have
the opportunity to deepen their practice under the guidance of Lama
Tsering Rinpoche.
The retreat house also accommodates a library with a constantly growing
volume of Buddhist works. At the end of the spacious, contemplative
garden is a small hut situated under shady trees for individual
retreats in absolute silence. A gate opens on to the garden of the main
house, where there is a large Buddha Shakyamuni statue which can be
circambulated by visitors and practitioners.
The retreat house was inaugurated by His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche and
Ven. Bongtrul Rinpoche in April and September 2005 respectively, and
has been available to practitioners of all Buddhist traditions since
then.
