Serkhangma teachings – the Sevenfold Offering of Vajarayana
This text of the seven limbs of the Serkhangma was written by the Drikung Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön in the Thogkha Serkhang-Temple of Drikung Thil Monastery.
It consists of: 1. Refuge and Homage, 2. Offerings, 3. Confession of unwholesome deeds, 4. Rejoicing in the merit of all beings, 5. Request to turn the wheel of the Dharma, 6. Beseeching (the teacher) to remain in the world, 7. Dedication and Prayers. In this, it is very similar to the text of the seven limbs of the Sutrayana. However, in the Serkhangma the spiritual teacher (skrt. Guru, tib. Lama ) is seen as the embodiment of the Dharmakaya (truthbody) and the Rupakaya (formbody).
The Serkhangma Prayer can be considered as a practice in itself, or as a preliminary practice to further meditations or teachings.
